• It appears from the Accesspoint descriptions that the newer short VCO board part numbers (i.e. H1253A) include the VCO Hybrid and the VCO Carrier Board as a single unit. The old long part numbers (i.e. HLE6102A) used to list separate part numbers for the VCO Carrier Board. This is my best guess after trying to lookup these part numbers. The above VCO Carrier Board part numbers are shown for reference only in case you run into these parts.
• Some of the command boards that were used in the original Spectra radios are marked with a "model A" notation.
• The HLN6324H and HLN6324HSP02 Command Boards do not use the MLM Memory Module. The HLN6324 boards have an on board flash memory for the radio's firmware instead of using the MLM.

• The conventional designation A3, A4, A5, A7 and A9 are used above to keep things simple. These designations can also apply respectively to trunking B2, B4, B5, B7, B9 and C2, C4, C5, C7, C9 as well as Spectra II E2, E4, E5, E7 and E9 heads.
• The Spectra A9, B9, C9 or E9 control heads must be Systems 9000E compatible. These control heads are only available with the Systems 9000 connector. All of the other control heads, except for the HHCH, can be converted into Systems 9000 connectors with a HLN6432 converter board and 1502116Z02 rear plastic.
• There are additional A9, B9, C9 and E9 control head part numbers that will work with the Spectra if they are Systems 9000E compatible. The HCN1045A is not Systems 9000E compatible, but the HCN1045B revisions and later are compatible. All revisions of the other Systems 9000 control head part numbers shown above are also compatible.
• The HLN6020, HLN6078 HLN6075, HLN6263 and HLN6283 are not enhanced or DEK compatible. The HLN6377 is enhanced and DEK compatible. The HLN6338, AALN4009, AALN4015 may or may not be enhanced or or DEK compatible?
• The HLN6338A and AALN4015 Motorcycle circuit boards probably have different jumpering and special weatherproofing.

Control Head Remote Mount Interface Boards:
HLN6432A - SYSTEMS 9000 Cable Converter Board (AAALN4007A or 0105950T92) NLA

• These circuit boards are used to convert the remote mount Spectra P103 control head connectors to Systems 9000 P100 control head cable connectors (i.e. so you can use the Systems 9000 cables on other control heads besides the A9, B9, C9 or E9 heads). One of the two above circuit boards is mounted behind the control head circuit board with a special control head rear plastic housing (1502116Z02).
• The HLN6432A appears to be the same as a HLN6432B, with the possible exception of the jumper configuration. The HLN6432Cappears to have updated the PC board layout, but should still work the same as a HLN6432A with some jumper changes.
• Some of these boards come with the radio drawer Emergency line jumpered to the VIP In 2 pin.

• Low power also refers to medium power (i.e. 50 watts and lower).
• The remote mount HLN6055 (which also requires a HLN6058 or HLN6066) was replaced by the single circuit board remote mount HLN6077 (the HLN6077 itself has been superseded by newer boards). The HLN6055 is the only board that requires a second Interconnect Board. Both the HLN6055 and HLN6077 have slightly different J5 pin outs than the later remote mount J5 pin outs.
• The HLN6058 is an early version of what later became the HLN6066. Both of these were replaced by the HLN6285 (except for the early radios that still use the HLN6055). The HLN6058 and HLN6066 can be modified to match the HLN6285 board.
• The single radio drawer HHCH remote mount is simply accomplished with a special cable. HHCH Interconnect Boards only work with HHCH control heads. The HHCH control head will not work directly with any other type of Interconnect Board.
• The dual radio drawer HHCH that uses the SIU, does not use a HHCH Interconnect Board. The SIU version of the HHCH radio uses a standard remote mount A9 Interconnect Board.
• All the above Interconnect Boards, except the HLN6055, use the P502 connector inside the radio drawer. The Interconnect Board plugs into the P502 connector. The other side of the Interconnect Board has a connector or connectors that depend on the type of interface board that is used (i.e. P506, P103, HHCH J5 DB-25, Motorcycle J5 DB-25, J5 DB-25, early J5 DB-25 and J6 DB-25).
• Secure boards are for use with the Internal Securenet Boards, but can also be used for Clear operation. However, Clear boards can not be used with the Internal Securenet Boards.
• The second J6 double DB-25 connector is required for Siren/PA, VRS or Rear control head options. It is also used for programming high power model radios.
• All dash mount Interconnect Boards only have a single P103 connector for the control head. This connector is designed for the control head circuit board to plug directly into it and is totally different from the DB-25 remote mount connectors.
• Most of the dash mount boards have the Securenet Keyloader Port connections, but the board schematics have very confusing labels and notes about these Keyloader pins. It appears the Keyloader pins may have different uses in radio drawers that are not Secure capable (possibly different Command Board jumpers as well).
• The HLN6285B / HLN6401A have P103 pin 24 going to P502 pin 2 and P103 pin 28 going to P502 pin 29. It appears the HLN6285B was an early version of what later became the HLN6401A Spectra II E board.
• The HLN6261B is a version of a HLN186C with the Systems 9000 serial bus and Filtered Audio disabled on the second DB-25 J6 connector. A Spectra radio with this board can not be programmed from the J6 front DB-25 connector and will not support any Systems 9000 housings or rear control head options.
• The HLN6401A can be configured as an Automatic Vehicle Locator (AVL) Interconnect Board, but it is not compatible with the Spectra II E radios in this configuration.
• There is a connector access hole cut into a special version of the main Spectra radio chassis to allow the HKN6044A Securenet cable to attach to the HLN6268A Interconnect Board. The dash mount HLN6268A Interconnect Board requires this special Spectra radio chassis (part number 27-80246R01).
• While some schematics incorrectly show the HLN6285B and HLN6401A to be identical. In reality they are different.

All these cables plug straight into the control head without any converter board.

• When using the A4/A5/A7/B2/B4/B5/B7/C2/C4/C5/C7/E2/E4/E5/E7 motorcycle control heads, the HLN6432C Systems 9000 control head cable converter board is not required for use with the HKN6062B motorcycle radio cable. A special 1580293L02 plastic rear control housing is used with these cables. The A9/B9/C9/E9 control heads do not work with this cable and these Systems 9000 control heads do not come in a weather resistant version either.

• The HLN6019A, HLN6019B and HLN6063A appear to have some reset circuitry on them that is unique to these Hear Clear Boards. The HLN6094 Command Board will not work with these early Hear Clear Boards, because P501 pin 16 was changed from RPCIC Enable Output to Option Input. The P501 pin 16 appears to be related to the early HLN6055 Interconnect Board Ignition or VIP Out 1 function.
• The HLN6019A also has a jumper enabled audio amplifier for the compressed audio.
• The HLN6100A and HLN6150A are missing all the reset circuitry of the two earlier boards. For this reason I do not know if the HLN6019A, HLN6019B or HLN6063A can be substituted with a HLN6100A or HLN6150A or not?
• The HLN6150A Hear Clear board already has the PC board traces for the DTMF decoder chips on it. The chips are NOT installed on the board. I suppose there are some SP versions of the HLN6150A that have the chips installed.
• The radio firmware must be version 5.10 or later and it must have a DTMF decoder option installed at J501 on the Command Board for DTMF decoding and DTMF selective calling to work.
• The radio drawer P501 internal option connector is used with one of the above circuit boards. Only one board can be plugged into P501.

• The 15-05125X01 Front Panel part number was taken from a new style SMD control head. This one has DIM printed on the front. It looks like it will work with the older control heads as well. Part numbers 15-05125X04 ($ 20.75) and 15-05125X09 ($ 28.75) were also listed. 15-05125X09 is listed as an Astro W9 front.
• The 07-80263L01 long trunnion bracket can be used to mount an A9, B9 or C9 control head.
• The 07-80126J02 short trunnion bracket can be used to mount an A9, B9 or C9 control head. Because this bracket it too short to fit underneath the A9, B9 or C9 control head, the positions it can be mounted in are limited.
• The above Wing Screws look like speaker wing screws, but they have a slightly different size screw. Speaker wing screws will go into the DEK, but will always feel loose. Control head / DEK wing screws will not go very far into the speaker before the threads bind up.
• The DIP and SMD repair parts are common parts needed for control head repair.
• C0165 is only a tantalum capicator on the HLN6284 SMD controller board. It is not a tantalum type on the HLN5464 SMD controller board.

• These key part numbers were taken from the 68P80103W09-A DEK manual, some were sent to me via e-mail and I purchased others just to find out what was on them.
• The keys marked "????" are a complete mystery to me. Keep in mind, DEK keys are larger then Systems 9000 control head keys.
• The above Wing Screws look like speaker wing screws, but they have a slightly different size screw. Speaker wing screws will go into the DEK, but will always feel loose. Control head / DEK wing screws will not go very far into the speaker before the threads bind up.
• The trunnion brackets above are listed for conventional A4, A5, A7 and A9 control heads. These actually include all of the similar trunking control heads B4, B5....., C4, C5....., etc.
• The 07-80263L01 long trunnion bracket can be used to mount an A9 control head with a DEK, or 2 DEKs. When a DEK is installed with an A9 head this bracket must mount above the DEK and control head. The 07-80217L01 trunnion adapter brackets can be used to add additional DEKs.
• The 07-80126J02 short trunnion bracket can be used to mount an individual A9, B9 or C9 control head or an individual DEK. Because this bracket it too short to fit underneath the A9, B9 or C9 control head, the positions it can be mounted in are limited. The 07-80217L01 trunnion adapter brackets can be used to add additional DEKs.

• The connector housing and pins are attached to the speaker wire and used to connect the speaker to the unique connector on the radio's cable. With the above connector parts you can make your own adapters and use lots of different speakers without having to butcher the Spectra cable speaker connector in the process.
• The speaker hangar bracket fits through the slot in back of the speaker (near the top) and it can be used to hang the speaker from the top edge of a partly rolled down vehicle window or other convenient place. A 6-32 x 3/8" machine screw is required to fasten it to the speaker. The control head wing screws are 5mm x 10 metric and are not really interchangeable with the speaker American 6x32 thread wing screws.
