Many parts will work with radio models other than the models they were originally designed to work with. Sometimes it is hard to tell if some parts you happen to run across are useful or not. To make matters worse, many parts look exactly the same externally. This guide is just information on miscellaneous parts from other Motorola radio lines. The list is not complete and I do not have all the information on which radio lines go with which parts, but it is a good start.

Part numbers FRN1790, FRN1791 and FRN2010 are not Systems 9000 DEK equipment. These are Smart-Status/Message (SSM) units. These are used with radios that do not support a Systems 9000 interface (i.e. Mocom 70, Mitrek, Maxar 80, Mostar, MaxTrac, MaraTrac, etc.). Externally they look exactly like Systems 9000 DEK units, but they are not. They use MDC-1200 protocol.

The SP01 only works correctly with the Syntor X 9000.
SP02 is listed for the Spectra, but they seem to work just fine with Syntor X 9000 radios as well.
The HKN4304A T-Cable can also be used by Spectra and Astro Spectra when daisy chaining an HLN1185B or later revision Siren/Pa housing to a VRS housing.
The Syntor X 9000/Spectra VRS A revisions use Expo radios and the B revisions use R-Net radios. Both of these radios are crystal controlled so there is no RSS to change their frequency.
VRS-EP stands for Vehicle Repeater System - Extend Protocol. The EP can steer up to 8 modes (4 more than the older VRS units). These are strictly Astro Spectra accessories.
The VRS-750 uses an RSS programmable frequency synthesized radio. The VRS and VRS-EP use a crystal controlled radio.
Sorry, I do not have VRS-750 cable numbers yet.
None of these are comparable with any Syntor X or earlier radios. The reasons are, the radio's computer provides the program to run the VRS and they require a Systems 9000 bidirectional serial link.

There is a conversion to use these with a Syntor X 9000 and a Spectra, but I do not have any information on the conversions other than the cable part numbers.
The mobile detectors are used when the vehicle radio and base use different frequencies to communicate. For example; instead of using a repeater the base transmits on 43.5 MHz and the vehicle transmits on 43.6 MHz. The PAC-RT can determine when the base is transmitting on 43.5 MHz through the vehicle radio, but this type of arrangement prevents the PAC-RT from hearing other mobile radios transmitting on 43.6 MHz, unless it has its own optional mobile detector listening to 43.6 MHz. Being able to hear other vehicle radios is part of the mechanism the PAC-RT uses to determine which one is the priority PAC-RT unit. Without this priority capability, two or more vehicles parked next to each other using their PAC-RT units would cause all the high power vehicle radios transmit at the same time and they would interfere with each other.

The HKN4304A T-Cable can also be used by Spectra and Astro Spectra when daisy chaining a Siren/Pa to a VRS housing.
The Spectra VRS and Astro Spectra VRS-EP use exactly the same cables. The Astro Spectra VRS-750 has its own unique cable.
The trunking cables marked in RED are known to not be compatible with conventional radio models. There may be other incompatible cables.

Plastic housing speakers:

Ever wonder just what that speaker really is and which radio line it goes with? The Syntor X comes with a standard 15 watt, 8 Ohm speaker for comparison purposes. The amplified speakers are not needed for the Syntor X and they also have special cables with special signal requirements. The power and impedance ratings are taken from Motorola manuals and product catalogs. However, some speakers have specifications stamped on the speaker magnet that do not agree with the values shown above. For example I have a HSN4013A that uses a 20 watt 2 ohm speaker, not a 5 watt 4 ohm speaker.

All 15 DTMF microphones listed below have the same internal DTMF circuits. Trunking microphones are jumpered differently. The other differences are the cables/connectors and the type of private line switch (it's a built in switch that does the same thing as the external PL/DPL hang-up box switch). All of these microphones are 12 button "telephone style" standard DTMF without backlighting. This information is for the tinkerers out there that may want replacement parts.

These microphones have an internal battery (60-80387B01) for the auto-dial memory.
They are the only ones I know of that can use the Systems 9000 +12 volt power for the keypad backlight (selected with JU6) instead of using the microphone preamplifier voltage for the backlight.

Hang-up boxes:

When the Syntor X microphone is in the hang-up box, the switch is closed and the receive PL/DPL decoding is enabled. When the microphone is removed, the switch opens and the receive PL/DPL decoding is disabled. The PL/DPL disable switch opens the circuit to disable the receive PL/DPL decoding, regardless of where the microphone is. Be careful, not all hang-up boxes work this way. All of these PL/DPL hang-up boxes should work with the Syntor X:

The handset hang-up cradle is only slightly more complicated than the hang-up box. The cradle is used with the telephone type handsets. Different cradles can switch the receive audio to a speaker (Audio Switching), control the PL/DPL decoding disable with a switch or automatically disable PL/DPL decoding when the handset is removed from the cradle (Automatic Monitor):
